Cisco Systems was founded in 1984 by a couple named
Len Bosack and Sandy Lerner. They
were computer engineers employed at Stanford University near San Francisco,
California. Cisco
router was essential to the creation and growth of the Internet. Switching
to (IP) significantly reduces the need for a multi-protocol router, the
Internet standard protocol, but at that time, the company was well established
and able to diversify to other networking products.
In 1990, only six years after its founding, the company went public and the name was changed to Cisco Systems. Just before the dot com. bubble burst, Cisco Systems was one of the richest companies in the world. Today, the company has managed to stay at the forefront of network systems technology and has maintained its position as a leader in the field of Internet technology.
In 1993, Cisco Systems has been involved in training with the creation of Cisco Academies. The idea was to provide comprehensive training for Network Associates. Once they were trained by Cisco using Cisco equipment, the creation of Academies has helped grow the company. Cisco training was established as a reference for members of the network and computer technicians. Cisco has also been a leader in the establishment of formal certification programs to manage the level of competence and skill of the network employees. Cisco Certification Training is designed to prepare candidates to pass the certification exams.
Although in recent years, other companies have introduced certification programs, Cisco certification remains an important indicator of a potential employee skills. Currently, Cisco Systems sponsors 9 different Certifications. They range from CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) CCSI (Cisco Certified Instructor Systems). The most common level of certification and entry is the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
