Cayman Brac is one of the best places to visit if
you're after a holiday in the Caribbean active. It
is much more robust than Little Cayman, with only a few beaches. The
draw for the Brac, as it is known locally, is available diving and hiking.
It is about 80 miles northeast of Grand Cayman and is accessible by air. Cayman Airways flies a loop of Grand Cayman Little Cayman to Cayman Brac, but not always in that order.
In common with its sister island, Brac has a museum that traces the local history. There is also the chance to see a parrot Cayman Brac in their natural habitat on the Parrot Reserve Brac. This parrot is now found in Cayman Brac, although it used to inhabit Little Cayman. The Cayman Brac Parrot has the smallest range of any kite and is one of the rarest.
Here you will find walls, poles, large schools of fish and sponges.
The beaches of Brac are nothing like those found in its sister islands. The beaches there are a lot of sea grass. Although there is no "right" beach (which is public) on the south side of the island. Most hotels are nearby.
There are more tracks than here in Little Cayman, which are marked by white signs heritage. This is the best way to explore the island. Free guides are available in the Brac Tourism Department and most hotels offer free cards. Proper hiking boots should be used as a base can be made strong ironshore. If you're feeling brave, there are many caves that you can walk, just not to disturb the bats. Also, try to finish before the sun as this is the peak time for mosquitoes.
